Chemical Conversion/Iridite
Ingleside Machine Co.,Inc. can provide both Type I and Type II compliant coatings IAW with MIL-DTL-5541. Type I is commonly known as Yellow and Clear Iridite or Alodine finishes, chemical conversion coatings are used primarily for paint adhesion on aluminum. Type II is a RoHS compliant iridite that has a clear to bluish hue. Two classes of coatings are available these include Class 1A “For maximum protection against corrosion, painted or unpainted” and Class 3 “For protection against corrosion where low electrical resistance is required”. Both classes provide a minimum of 168 hours of salt spray protection.
Ingleside is an approved source for Lockheed Martin.
Ingleside is an approved source for Harris.
Iridite Capabilities:
- Tank Size: 19” x 31” x 32”

Electrocoat (E-Coat)
Electrocoating (also called e-coating or electrodeposition) is the process by which a metallic workpiece is submerged in a paint / water bath and electricity is used to deposit paint onto the workpiece. With proper attention to bath chemistry, operating parameters, and facility maintenance, an electrodeposition process is capable of providing the highest first-run capability of any coating process at very high line speeds. Coating film thickness can be controlled via voltage, and bath temperature adjustments to vary in only tenths of a mil over the entire workpiece. The electrodeposition process provides the highest material transfer efficiency obtainable by any coating process. Electrodeposition coatings are water-based and contain as little as 1-3% volatile organic solvent. Our E-coat process has an UV protection additive that works great for military application.
E-Coat Capabilities:
- Black color to meet FED-STD-595/27038
- Gloss range up to 30 Degrees
- For Steel: 18” x 18” x 20”
- For Aluminum: 22” x 18” x 20”

Passivate
Passivation is a non-electrolytic finishing process that makes stainless steel more rust-resistant. The passivation process uses citric acid to remove free iron from the surface. This results an inert, protective oxide layer that is less likely to chemically react with air and cause corrosion. Our passivation process is compliant with AMS2700, ASTM A967, ASTM A380 and/or MIL-DTL-14072 E300.
